Champions!

Curtis has been playing soccer for the squadron team this year. They only lost one game this season and played in the championship game last night. They won 1-0. Caleb snuck in for the picture.

Move Over, Diego

Move over Diego, Here comes Nick.

He found a turtle in the back yard yesterday and decided he had better rescue it! He picked it up and we hopped in the car (we were headed out for errands anyways!) and took it to a nearby pond.

He took it down and let it go near the waters edge. We stayed and watched a minute as it stuck out its head to make sure that he was safe.

Nick loves turtles and wants to keep one, but I think we will stick to a dog!

Catch Up

Sorry, school got out last week, so I have been a little busier than normal. I am getting a new rhythem down so I can find time to post.

Megan has got it all figured out. She has got her cell phone and backpack. Now she and baby can hit the road! And notice our resident monkey Nick hanging from the counter. If it is something to somehow hang from, he does.

Corn Shooter, Jr.

While growing up my father was affectionately known as the corn shooter. He could eat 10+ ears of corn in one sitting. Well, I think that he has some competition. Megan can seriously down some corn(interestingly enough, since she doesn't have all of her teeth yet!) So Papa Cal you might have to give over your title to this little corn shooter!

No Pictures Lately

These last couple of weeks have been very busy. We have had lots going on, but didn't take any pictures!

Nancy came out to the Kansas City area with her institute group to visit church sites. We went up and met her in Independance. We got to see her for a couple of hours. It was good to see her!

Curtis was called as Elders Quorum President. He makes a great leader, but I am sure that he wouldn't admit that!

I was able to be with a friend with she had her second baby. Her husband was deployed and missed the birth. It was great to be included in such a miracle!

Jake and Nick are counting down the days at school. They no longer come home with homework, but are slowly emptying out their desks and lockers. They have lots of fun activities planned. It hardly seems like school!

Caleb and Megan are the same. Caleb takes over my living room daily with the train set. And Megan mothers all her babies, and kicks Caleb's train set!

Why Caleb Loves The New House

Since our new house has more living room space, we have more area than furniture. But Caleb had a great idea for it! He got this Thomas train set 2 Christmases ago. He played with it down in our old basement. I didn't know where to put it here so I planned on selling it at a yard sale. But he LOVES it. So we set it up in the living room. It obviously will not stay set up, but I guess it is a good thing for him to do during Megan's nap. It keeps him busy for hours, and hey, that is not a bad thing!

Bella is quite the bandit. She chases after the trains trying to derail them!

Spring Soccer

Tonight was the last game of the season for Jake and Nick's soccer season. This year they tried indoor soccer on base because of the number of cancelled games and practices last year with the rain. I think that it worked out really well. Curtis was Jake's coach this year. Both of the boys did really well. They love soccer and really get into it.

Operation Spirit

Today was a program called Operation Spirit. It is a mini deployment for the kids so that they can see and understand the process that their dads(or moms) go on. It was a really great program. I was glad to go so that I could see what happens too.

They went through their "outprocessing" line where they received their ID cards(which Jake was so excited about, he can't wait to turn 10 and get a real military ID card!) They got their dog tags(which were very close to real with their name and birth date and place on them), their uniforms, power of attorney, immunizations, talked to the Chaplin(where were you Papa?), and then they were on their way.

They took a bus ride to the flightline where they boarded a C130 cargo plane for their trip to "Balad". They got strapped in and got their ear plugs in. The pilots closed the doors and they "flew" to Balad, Iraq.

After they returned home from their deployment a group of soldiers were there to greet them and then show them all of the different planes we have on base. We got to walk around and under the B2 (which we have never been able to before, we always had to stay in a roped off area). The B2s are amazing!

Then they received their awards for their safe and successful deployment.

Jake said that his award was for saving the country. What a hero!

Then they got their face painted like real soldiers.

Sat in Humvees.Watched a military dog attack a "bad" guy. A little scary if you asked me!

Drove Explosive Ordinance robots.

Then finally collapsed in their tent for a nap. We had a great day. It was so great for the kids to see all the different sides of the deployment process. Jake even liked the MREs. Maybe we have some soldiers in training!

We Finally Have Internet Again!

So we got the key to move into the house on Monday, Curtis had to work, so I moved the kitchen on Monday. Curtis took off Tuesday and Wednesday. He rounded up the firefighters on Tuesday and about 12 of them came out on Tuesday to load the Uhaul. It took 2 huge loads and about 6 hours. So I spent Wednesday and Thursday unpacking and organizing. Our cable guy came Wednesday to set up tv and Internet, but of course my computer wasn't unpacked yet, so he left without actually getting the computer to work. So he had to come back today to set up the Internet. I have felt a little lost without the Internet or phone(vonage). We had our cell phones but couldn't find the chargers for 2 days. I guess I wasn't meant to live before the conveniences of today! But anyways, we are in and slowly getting organized.

Another Caleb Mishap

Well, he did it again.

He was rollerskating in the kitchen when he lost his balance and grabbed for something to hold on to. He grabbed the bench which didn't help his situation. So he slid under the bench but somehow pulled the bench up and dropped it on his face. It left a nice gash between his eyes and a huge bruise on his eye and forehead. It was nothing Emergency Room worthy (which is fortunate, since they seem to know Caleb on a first name basis!), but still a little scary. Maybe it will teach him not to rollerskate in the house, nah, probably not.
