My friend Melissa teaches the Wilton Cake Decorating Course. She just finished teaching a group of us. I learned a lot but learned that I am not skilled enough for serious cake decorating. This was our last cake. I conquered the rose. So now all our kids will get roses on their birthday cakes whether they want them or not!

The roses look fabulous! I haven't tried a rose since I took my cake decorating class at Ricks. My final cake for the class had huge amounts of frosting in the middle to compensate for the uneven baked cake. That was so long ago!
