Vacation

Well, we finally made it home from our vacation and are glad to be back. We had a great time and did lots of fun things, but there is nothing quite like your own bed!

First, we went to Commerce, Georgia (outside Atlanta) where my sister Kate and her family lives. We spent a few days with them. We went to the Cabbage Patch Hospital where the cabbage patch dolls are "born". It was fun but not as interactive as I had hoped. Megan got her first cabbage patch doll which cries, then drinks from her bottle. I don't have any pictures of our adventure in Georgia, so you will have to look at Kate's blog to see some(if she has any!)

Then we went up to the Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. It was gorgeous up there. We camped and spent our days at some of the tourist sites. I think that the Smoky Mountains are one of the most beautiful parts of the country.

Then we went over to Greensboro, North Carolina, where Nick lives. Nancy and Diannah were there the same time that we were. We went to a Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball game. Curtis has other family there too that we spent the weekend with.

On our way up to Wisconsin, we stopped at the US Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. It had tons of different aircraft on display. My favorite part was the Space Museum.

We made it to Wisconsin a few days before the 4th of July. We spent time barbequeing with family and friends. On the 4th, the guys put on a great fireworks display for us. It was LOUD and amazing, but still 3 out of the 4 kids slept or fell asleep during it!

Lastly, we stopped in Nauvoo. There were some great parts, but we have decided it is better for older children (Caleb and Megan weren't too interested in barrel making!) We will definitely go back another time when attention spans are longer, and we have more time to spend there.

And now back to everyday living. Jacob started tennis today. He loves it. They begged to go to the swimming pool, but it was only about 81 degrees. Maybe tomorrow!

Looks like you all had a lot of fun. You guys traveled a lot of miles. We agree that Nauvoo is for those with longer attention spans. Carthage jail was hard for us.

Hey, we went to that same museum a couple years ago when we were visiting my folks, I was pregnant then and kept saying, can we be done now, so much walking! Looks like you had loads of fun, isn't it nice that kids sleep on car rides, that makes it survivable.

Fun pictures...Im sure pulling the kids on the lawn mower was really safe! haha...who cares! I agree about Nauvoo...there's only so many times you can go! Its fun, but definitely not for young kids!

Looks like a great trip. We LOVE to travel. Yup I'm going to agree Nauvoo is one of those trips for older kids. Our boys where small and it was hard for them to be still and quiet. How fun though.Glad you made it home alright. When do you guys move?
