First Day of School 2013

The summer has flown by, and it is already time for another year of school to start! Two middle schoolers and two elementary schoolers.  Life seems to zoom quickly sometimes!

SCUBA

This summer we have worked to become SCUBA certified.  It has been quite an adventure.  I have definitely learned about some the fears that I have(breathing underwater being one of them!)  We were able to take the course with some great friends that have since moved from the island.  Hopefully we get the chance to meet up again down the road and dive again!!

Water! Water! Water!

Beaches, swimming holes, pools, whatever!  My children need to be in the water.  We spent most of the summer around the island in some sort of water.  It is our last summer of this magical island so we did our best to get the most out of it!

Madrid

Jake and I flew up to Madrid to attend the District Temple Trip.  It was Jake's first trip to the temple and a great chance for us to spend some time together.

Each afternoon we would head out and explore the city of Madrid.  Jake picked where we went and led us much of the way.  I am glad that he has grown up to be such a fearless traveler.

We shared the week with a great group of kids from Porto, Portugal.  The language wasn't a barrier!  These kids were awesome and helped make this trip great for Jacob.

Caves

We took the local missionaries to the caves for some sight-seeing.
These caves are actually old volcanoes.  At least we hope that they are old!!
The caves/volcanoes are in the middle of our island and were only discovered about 15 years ago.
They were definitely dark and chilly.

Only for the Most Adventurous!  That was us!!

Whale Watching In the Azores

We went on a whale watching tour with some friends.  It was an overcast, chilly day but it was a great adventure.

 Just a little sick!
We saw no whales because of the weather, but saw tons of dolphins.  They just kept swimming with us next to the boat.  It was a wonderful adventure.
